Firefox 1.0 Released
Firefox 1.0 has been released. To celebrate the occasion I have made a special page with links to download the release. Firefox is a lightweight web browser from the Mozilla Foundation designed to be a replacement for Internet Explorer by being "faster, safer, and more secure" - not to mention way more feature rich.
I was first turned onto Firefox by a co-worker Joel several years ago when the Firefox project was still called Phoenix. Phoenix provided a built in Popup blocker, more web standard compliant rendering, a JavaScript console as well as other developer friendly tools. And when you combine the additional extensions available, Firefox really becomes a developers best friend.
While I may not be fortunate enough to attend any of the release parties (yes we are geeks and we celebrate software releases with parties), I will be able to listen in on "Air Mozilla" - a live broadcast from the Mozilla Foundation HQ being put on by SpreadFirefox.com (hopefully their site will work when the time comes).
If you have not made the switch away from Internet Explorer (a.k.a. MSN Explorer) over to Firefox, I now urge you more than exer to make the switch. For more info on switching vist http://www.switch2firefox.com/.
